Ikonica.Me: A Tool For Every iOS Designer

2 min read,

If you are a designer or a developer, chances are you have worked on an iOS app. It’s the most creator-friendly platform which changed the way we communicate since it was first introduced in 2007. From that point on, hundreds of thousands of jobs have been created, and the industry worth billions of dollars hasn’t even reached its peak yet. Most of the developers prefer iOS, simply because it’s easy to cash in on your product. That’s why guys at Appricot decided to make an app which will help iOS designers with their icons.

Called Ikonica (Serbian word for icon), this nifty app essentially let’s its users preview the design of the icon on any iOS device in a native environment. It works by downloading the app both on your Mac and iOS device. After you pair the two over Wi-Fi, you simply drag the icon to the toolbar and it will appear on your iPhone or iPad.

Developed and designed by the guys behind Period.Me app which we’ve revied a few weeks agoIkonica is the essential tool which every designer will quickly learn to appreciate, as it saves so much time. It’s also very simple to use, meaning you won’t need too much time to figure everything out. It’s plug-and-play concept works perfect.

Ikonica let’s users change the background picture and import photo (of an icon) directly from the camera roll. This feature comes in handy if you’re showing the app to your client and don’t have your Mac with you. Users are able to see how the icon looks and feels on the home screen, as well as in folder. An option to choose between different icons is also added, which will further help designers when it comes to presenting the apps to clients.

Interestingly, the app was designed and developed in just 48 hours. Guys at Appricot decided to have an in-house hackaton, about which we will talk in tomorrow’s blog post. Ikonica is not currently available for download, but we’ve been told that it’s coming as soon as Apple approves it.

You can check out the official website for more information. Follow the team on twitter and find out when Ikonica will be available in both App and Mac Store! 😀
