One of the most popular startups in the last couple of years is probaby Instagram, recently bought by Facebook for a billion dollars. However, although Instagram’s insisting on being a mobile app only makes sense, it would be nice to have at least some sort of online viewing app.
So, developers decided to build their own Instagram web galleries, but they were slow and only a few had a nice design. Instagrid.Me is the new kid in the block and it features viewing your Instagram feed as well as some nice options you’ll love.
You don’t have to register to use Instagrid.Me, but you will need an Instagram account (obviously) and to connect Instagrid.Me with your Instagram account. Don’t worry, you won’t have to enter any passwords, just approve Instagrid.Me and that’s it – your gallery is now available at Instagrid.Me/username!
And this is where the fun begins – you can invite people who don’t use Instagram to subscribe to your feed via email so that when you take a new photo, they’ll receive it right in their inbox. It’s unlikely that Instagram will want to follow you via e-mail, but think of your friends and family that still prefer email over smartphones.
You can also create hashtag galleries instantly – just enter a tag to get a subset of your photos – it’s a perfect way to keep up with specific topics and keeping photos organized in a gallery.
Instagrid.Me allows you to connect with other Instagrid.Me users and subscribe to their feeds. But in order to find out who are new users worth following and you will have to subscribe to Instagrid Digest, a weekly newsletter which will help you discover new users to follow – both popular as well as undiscovered ones.
This nice Instagram viewer was developed by Social Print Studio, and it’s one of the rare sites which has its own philosophy:
We work slowly, focusing on simple functionality and minimal design. We push updates over time based on user feedback and feature requests. We’re happy to have you here, and we are committed to maintaining this app.
This means that Instagrid.Me will stay free no matter what – since it’s a sideproject for the company that created it. However, there is a way for getting some money – and it’s called Printstagram, a service (offered by the same agency) which will print out your Instagram photos in any size you want.
Instagram lovers – check out Instagrid.Me!
