Just.Me Just Released Their iPhone App in Beta, a Distant Relative of Path

Took a bit of time, but the $600,000 seed funded iPhone app Just.Me is out in beta this week with users flocking to try the mobile solutions that’s obviously made “just for us”. Although it’s not yet publicly available, we’ll give you an exclusive low down on what Just.Me is and what it seems it wants to be.
Just.Lots.Of.Support
Just.Me, founded by Techcrunch co-founder Keith Teare has secured a very sizable initial investment from True Ventures, SV Angel, Betaworks, Four Horsemen and a number of angels: Don Dodge, Patrick Gannon and Michale Parekh.
While you might think its a normal messaging app when you start it up, the messages are in fact divided into a private, shared and public section. So Just.Me wants to be somewhere between a public social network such as Twitter and a private one like Path. Also, spice it up with a completely private part that looks like a diary and then you have Just.Me. But lets get into the details of how it works.
Messaging – Private, Shared and Public
You can send unlimited free messages with text, photos, voice and videos. While you do have to have the app to use and see all of its features, messages can be routed through SMS and email to get to all your contacts which is basically a way of Just.Me getting new people on board for their app.
Each message can be liked, commented and replied to, features we’ve seen with other messaging apps. Unlike those, the “boxes” you have to put your messages do make Just.Me unique. You can basically make notes in the Private area that’s a private cloud inside Just.Me, share messages with your contact or indeed, go public by sharing those same messages through Twitter and Facebook. So Just.Me doesn’t seem to want to be the next big social network, but a useful app that can be the center of your messaging – the integration of email and sms routing makes that quite clear.
Since Just.Me is currently in beta, you can’t test it out, but don’t worry – we’ll make sure you know when it lands in the app store. The current build is stable and Keith and his team are obviously testing the general, most used features before they get adventurous and show us why Just.Me will be so unique – for you, or Just.Me. Also, don’t forget to sign up for the beta 😉
